Was out with the wife today having a great time in 20kt gusts; we were flying the hull and out running all the other boats. While on a reach we buried the bows and pitchpoled. Slow motion, nah, it happened fast. It was initially hard to stay with the boat as the wind was pushing it away from us. I made my way to the main sheet and released it, funny thing is I did not have it cleated before the crash, but it was after.
Righting the boat was easy and I used the front cross bar and bow spreader to get my self back on the boat with a triceps pushup. The wife was getting pushed under the boat and I pulled her over the front bar and onto the tramp. We laughed all the way back to the dock.
I almost pitchpoled the boat last month and my friend smacked his head into the mast; we call him lightening rod for a reason. No blood, but he was dazed for a while. Since that event I donated my old climbing helmets to the boat and we started wearing them in high winds. Today, when we were washing the gear, I noticed a chunck missing from above the ear on the wife's helmet. I am not sure if she hit her head, she does not think so, but I am glad we had them on!
Any stories to share?

Now that's funny right there! Wish I could have got that one on film! Sorry, no stories to share compared to that one. The only thing I've had happen is blowing a jibe (poor technique) in 35 knots. When it dumped the boat turtled so fast it came down on my head and damn near pinned me under the tramp. The only time I can honestly say I was really nervous! Best part is I got it on tape but refuse to watch it. Still got it righted in under 60 seconds from turtle. Wave's are such a great boat!
Glad you guys are ok and there was no "brain damage"! bwahahaha
