I haven't purchased my Wave yet but am studying the great videos and other tidbits of information available on this board. Today the remnants of TS Karen are blowing in and I saw a guy on a catamaran (too far away to tell what kind) who was moving really fast. So I ask you "What kind of speeds have you folks recorded on your Waves?"

There is a guy on the Hobie forums (creative) that gets low to mid 16's on his Wave. His videos are on Youtube. I consistently get 16 to 19's (Timed runs, mark to mark) depending on wind/wave conditions and which jib I am running along with mast rake (tuned for conditions). I was out this summer in 20-30 and there was another cat (H16) that was blowing my doors in. There were 2 people trapped out on it and I would get 3/4 of the way across and he would blow past me on app' a 1/4 mile run. The biggest difference was the Wave was in it's comfort zone in those conditions and the 16 was borderline survival mode. Right on the edge. They were really smokin' though. They were probably in the low 20's. The Wave really comes to life in heavy air and is a pig in anything under 15. Waves are pretty quick with a Hooter set up in light wind.
